(1) The conical flask must be cleaned before use. For a new conical flask that has not been used, it can be washed with tap water and then rinsed with distilled water. As for the used conical flask, due to the various chemical dirt on its wall, it will directly affect the test effect, so it is often soaked in “washing liquid”, then the inner and outer walls are wiped with a brush, and finally rinsed with distilled water. Whether the conical flask is clean or not, see if there are small water droplets on the wall of the cup. The presence of water droplets indicates that there is still a layer of grease film on the wall of the cup. The film is easy to adhere to chemical substances during the experiment and affect the experimental results, so it must be washed again.
When heating liquid in a conical flask, the volume of the liquid should not exceed 1/3 of the conical flask to prevent the liquid from overflowing when boiling. After the liquid is poured into the conical flask, the outer wall of the conical flask must be wiped dry. When moving the conical flask by hand, fingers should not touch the inner wall of the conical flask, so as not to bring in the dirt. In addition, do not use the conical flask to heat and evaporate dangerous chemicals such as concentrated acid (hydrochloric acid, nitric acid, sulfuric acid, etc.), concentrated alkali, mercury, etc., so as to avoid the generation of strong corrosive vapor or toxic and harmful gas, polluting the environment and even endangering personal and property safety. When heating the conical flask, it should be carried out on an oil bath, a water bath, or a sand bath, and direct heating should be avoided as much as possible, because the bottom surface is large and the heating surface is uneven, which is easy to cause bursting. If these devices are not available, the Erlenmeyer flask can be heated on an asbestos mesh. After heating, when it is removed from the flame, it should not be placed in a supercooled place. If the temperature changes sharply, the conical flask will burst, causing accidents and losses. Put it on the asbestos board or wooden board.
