What items should be paid attention to when using beakers?

The beaker is a reaction container for simple chemical reactions because of its consistent caliber, which is very convenient to take liquid. When there is a scale on the outside of the beaker, the volume of solution in the beaker can be estimated. Some beakers will also have a small white or burr on the outside of the wall, in this area can be written in pencil to describe the name of the contents. beaker laboratory,50ml beaker, small beaker, beaker 250 ml,beaker 2000ml  If there is no such area on the beaker, the name of the contents can be written on the label paper, and then pasted on the outside of the beaker as a mark. beaker laboratory,50ml beaker, small beaker, beaker 250 ml,beaker 2000ml  When the reactants need stirring, they are usually stirred with a glass rod. When the solution needs to be moved to another container, you can tilt the mouth of the cup towards the side with a protruding notch, and the solution can be smoothly poured out. To prevent the solution from flowing down the outside of the cup, a glass rod can be used to gently touch the cup, then the solution attached to the cup can smoothly flow down the glass rod.

The main uses of beakers are as follows:

1, the material of the reactor, determine the combustion products.

Dissolve or crystallize a substance.

3. Condense or heat the solution by evaporation.

4. Place corrosive solid drugs for weighing

Matters needing attention

The beaker is used as a reaction vessel for preparing solutions, dissolved substances and larger quantities of substances at room temperature or under heating.

Note when using beakers:

1. Line beakers with asbestos mesh to provide even heat. Cannot heat beaker directly with flame, because beaker bottom surface is big, heat directly with flame, can burn local only, make glass is heated irevenly and cause blast crack. Dry the outside of the beaker while heating.

2. For dissolving, the amount of liquid should not exceed 1/3 of the beaker’s volume, and stir gently with a glass rod. During dissolving or diluting, do not touch the bottom or sides of the glass while stirring with a glass stick.

3. When the liquid is heated, do not exceed 2/3 of the beaker’s volume, generally 1/3 of the beaker’s volume is appropriate.

4. When heating corrosive drugs, a surface dish can be covered on the mouth of the beaker to avoid liquid splashing out.

5. Do not use beakers to store chemicals for a long time to avoid falling into dust and evaporation of water in the solution.

6. Do not measure liquids in beakers.
