Reagent bottles are classified by color and generally have two colors: white and brown. Brown reagent bottles are used for containing reagents or solutions that are easy to decompose under light, such as iodine solution, silver nitrate, potassium permanganate, potassium iodide, and chlorine water, etc. Other colorless bottles are generally used. According to the size of the mouth, the bottle is divided into wide mouth bottle and small mouth bottle. The wide mouth bottle is used to hold solid reagent, and the small mouth bottle is used to hold liquid preparation.
According to the type of bottle mouth is divided into non-grinding bottle and grinding bottle. Generally speaking, non-abrasive reagent bottles are used to hold lye or concentrated salt, etc., with a rubber or cork stopper to prevent the reagent from crystallizing or dissolving the glass, resulting in the stopper bonding with the bottle and not easy to open. Grinding bottle can contain acid, non-strong alkaline reagent or organic reagent solution and other substances that have little erosive effect on glass. The inside of the bottle mouth is frosted to keep the seal and prevent reagent leakage and concentration change.
In addition, there is a reagent bottle with a dropper, called a drop bottle. A drop bottle is frosted on the inside of the mouth, similar to a small bottle, with the cap replaced by an eyedropper. When the liquid chemical is used in small amounts at a time or is dangerous, drop bottles are often used to hold the solution.
